Photographs from the Navajo Nation

Stephen E. Strom contributed photographs of the Four Corners region to a collaborative venture with the Muscogee poet, Joy Harjo. The resulting book, Secrets From The Center Of The World, was published by the University of Arizona Press. While conducting an active career in astronomy in the intervening years, he has continued to photograph. He currently has a portfolio, Light Forms / Earth Forms, available through the Metamorphosis Gallery in Patagonia, AZ. He is also working on two books, a collaboration with Navajo writer Laura Tohe on a book on Canyon de Chelly, Tsegi: Deep in the Rock, to be published in late 2005, and with the grasslands ecologists, Carl and Jane Bock, on a book on the Sonoita Valley in Southeast Arizona, Sonoita Plain: Ecology and Aesthetics of an Arizona Grassland, to be published in early 2005. Both books will be published by the University of Arizona Press.

A portrait of Stephen is available in our portrait gallery.

A sampling of images from the Navajo Nation region are available here.

More of Stephen's work can be viewed on his website. Images are available for purchase there.
