Grace Chino

ACOMA PUEBLO POTTER

Grace Chino | Acoma Potter | Penfield Gallery of Indian Arts | Albuquerque | New Mexico

GRACE CHINO is a daughter of Marie Z  Chino who was one of the great matriarchs of Acoma Pueblo pottery.  The Acoma pot here was made in 1989 and is unusual for the design, including the deer figure which Grace typically did not paint on her pots. Grace won many awards at Santa Fe Indian Market.  Grace was an active potter from the 1950s until 1994 when she died.
